Guided implementation is included, and most teams are typically live within 48 hours. Add your company and your team, and Bolto prepares your first run. If you’re switching providers, Bolto moves your payroll history and year-to-date balances for you, and migrations are free.

02Do we need an HR person to use Bolto?

No. Bolto collects new-hire paperwork such as W-4s and I-9s, prepares every payroll run for your approval, and its AI agents and compliance experts handle registrations, filings, and notices. When you do hire someone for People, they work in the same platform.

03What happens when we hire in a new state?

Bolto’s AI agents and compliance experts work out which agencies are involved, open your withholding and unemployment accounts, and start filing returns. You’ll see each account’s status and get an alert if anything needs your input before payroll. The Launch plan covers payroll and tax compliance in up to 2 states, and Scale covers all 50.

04How do benefits work with Bolto?

Bolto isn’t a broker, so you choose how benefits are offered: through Bolto’s integrated broker partners, an ICHRA, or the broker you already use. Employees enroll in health, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans during onboarding, and premiums and deferrals flow into every payroll run.

Yes. Bolto pairs each open role with vetted specialist recruiters and AI sourcing, with a dedicated success manager running each search. Pricing is success-based with no upfront fees, and the average placement fee is 10% of first-year compensation. Signed offers flow straight into onboarding and payroll.

Yes. Employ full-time hires in 150+ countries through Bolto’s employer of record (EOR), or pay contractors in 190+ countries, without opening a local entity. International hires sit in the same workspace as your US team.
