Bolto raises $12M to build the first AI-native, all-in-one Recruiting, Payroll, and HR system

We’re thrilled to announce our $12M Series A funding round led by Standard Capital and participation from Y Combinator, General Catalyst, Morado Ventures, Amino Capital, Alumni Ventures, and notable angels.
This brings our total funding to $17.1M and marks the beginning of a new era for the HR function.
Since raising our seed round, we've increased revenue over 20x, grown our team from 3 to 15+, and are now serving some of the fastest growing companies in the world.
Why? Because we're the first AI native HR system to bring recruiting, payroll, and HR into one platform, and surface proactive insights for HR leaders to make better human capital decisions.
How we got here
We founded Bolto in 2023 with the simple thesis that AI could help make recruiting much easier. We built an AI-powered recruiting product that matched startups with expert recruiters and began helping some of the fastest-growing companies in the world make their next hire(s). Along the way, we kept hearing from our customers, "Hey, could I pay these people through Bolto too?"
After many more conversations with founders and HR execs, we realized that consolidating People Ops (recruiting, payroll, and HR) into one platform would be a massive value-add and save teams thousands, or depending on size, millions of dollars as they scaled.
That was our lightbulb moment.
We decided to build the world's first AI native platform from the ground up that handled recruiting, payroll, and HR all in one place.
Recruiting → Payroll -> HR is the correct order
Most “all-in-one HR” platforms avoid recruiting because it’s messy and they built their businesses via channel partnerships. Bolto embraces it because hiring is the start of the lifecycle.
Owning day 0 allows us to capture intent, feedback, and decision rationale. We centralize people data from hire to exit and expand naturally into the rest of HR. Companies don’t want to use a Recruiting Agency, ATS, and then an HR provider or two. They want consolidation with an intelligence layer that helps them manage people ops efficiently.
Building a Robust HR System
We knew that if we were going to build a payroll and HRIS to link with our recruiting system, we couldn't just throw together any software. We had to redesign the payroll and HRIS system for the global and AI era. So, we built:
• A robust payments platform that supports payroll, contractor payments, and EOR in 200+ countries and territories.
• Thoughtfully-designed HR and onboarding features.
• An AI HR orchestration agent that allows anyone in a company, from engineering to sales, to help manage their team's HR needs.
We launched last year, and the response was remarkable. We scaled revenue, grew the team and now support startups and public enterprises. We've raised this capital to continue building the HR system today's leaders deserve.
How AI will change the HR function
The HR function is becoming more strategic. Today's CHRO isn't just managing payroll, benefits, onboarding, and culture. They're solving complex resource / human capital allocation problems and are increasingly tasked with helping businesses hit their core revenue/cost KPIs.
Meanwhile, LLMs are now capable of reasoning over regulatory documentation, policies, and multi-step processes. They can handle global edge cases programmatically and you can learn from why decisions are made, not just what happened. This is a foundational shift, not just a feature upgrade.
The HR system of the future will be like an executive teammate that coaches HR leaders on how to run their organizations to hit their KPIs.
What's next for Bolto
The Series A allows us to double down on our mission to build the AI-native HR system.
We’re investing heavily in expanding our core platform across recruiting, payroll, and HR. Bolto is only going to get even faster, more reliable, and more intelligent. At the same time, we’re scaling our go-to-market and support teams to serve the next generation of high-growth companies around the world.
Most importantly, we’re continuing to push the frontier of what AI can do for People Ops by building systems that don’t just record what’s happening, but actively help companies make better decisions about their people.
We’re just getting started.
Back to building... the best is yet to come.
